Mr Lim Choon Mong asked the Chief Minister whether he will make a statement giving details of his discussion in London with the Secretary of State for the Colonies and of his visit to Commonwealth countries en route.
The Chief Minister (Mr D. S. Marshall): Yes, Sir. I will be making a statement after Question Time. I would like to assure the hon. Member that I am not seeking to avoid supplementaries. It is a long statement, Sir, and it is inappropriate to make it at this juncture. May I have your permission, Sir, to explain that, should the hon. Member or any other Member of this Assembly seek to elucidate any aspect of that statement, he is at liberty to ask me any questions after I have made the statement?
Mr Speaker: I might inform hon. Members that that is permissible at any time. Whenever a Minister makes a statement, questions may be asked to elucidate anything that might arise out of that statement.
