Mr Lim Choon Mong asked the Minister for Labour and Welfare if he will state the number of man-days lost because of strikes in the period April to December, 1955, and the corresponding figure for 1954.
Mr Lim Yew Hock: Mr Speaker, Sir, there are no separate figures for strikes, but the figures for man-days lost in all industrial disputes, including lock-outs as well as strikes, are as follows:
April to December, 1955 ... 944,913 man-days lost.
April to December, 1954 ... 129,408 man-days lost.
Mr Lim Choon Mong: How does the Minister arrive at such figures?
