Mr Lee Choon Eng asked the Minister for Local Government, Lands and Housing the average monthly figures for 1955 of water consumption in each of the Estates serviced by block water-meters.

Inche Abdul Hamid Bin Haji Jumat: Mr Speaker, Sir, with your permission, I would like to answer Questions Nos. 25 and 26 at the same time because they deserve a similar reply.

Mr Speaker indicated assent.

Inche Abdul Hamid Bin Haji Jumat: My answer to the hon. Member is this, Sir, that I have asked the Manager of the Singapore Improvement Trust to let the hon. Member have the detailed information he seeks.

Mr Lee Choon Eng: Can the Minister give a written statement to the Clerk so that it could be published together with this question?

Inche Abdul Hamid Bin Haji Jumat: May I ask, Sir, whether the hon. Member would like the publication to be made in the Hansard of this Assembly?

Mr Lee Choon Eng: Sir, the Hon. the Minister for Commerce and Industry said earlier that a written statement could be handed to the Clerk for publication. Would that apply in this case?

Inche Abdul Hamid Bin Haji Jumat: On a point of clarification, Sir. I was wondering whether you could indicate to the Assembly whether we could publish matters relating to the day to day affairs of such statutory bodies like the Singapore Improvement Trust and the City Council within the pages of our Hansard?

Mr Speaker: Clearly, of course, the answer is No, but if those statements produced in answer to questions are adopted by the Minister or a Member as his own, then those statements could be published.
