Mr Lee Choon Eng asked the Chief Secretary whether he will make a statement on the arrest of Mr Tan Lay Boon, an official of the Army Civil Service Union.

Mr Goode: Sir, Tan Lay Boon has been detained under section 3 of the Preservation of Public Security Ordinance, 1955. I repeat what the Chief Minister and myself have already stated publicly-that his arrest had no connection with his activities as an official of the Army Civil Service Union.
