Mr Lim Cher Kheng asked the Minister for Local Government, Lands and Housing whether there is in operation or under consideration any scheme to provide farmlands and the necessary facilities for the resettlement of farmers who will be affected by the Master Plan or by any other future Government development project; and whether he will give details.
Inche Abdul Hamid Bin Haji Jumat: As the Master Plan has yet to be approved by the Government, it would be premature now to consider any scheme or resettlement that may be necessitated by the Plan. As the Honourable Member is aware, Government has had in operation for some time resettlement schemes for people who have had to be moved from areas required for public development by the Government and will continue to operate such schemes where necessary.
