Mr John Ede asked the Chief Secretary whether the Government has accepted the recommendations of the Malayanisation Commission to Malayanise the police force in three years.
Mr Goode: The recommendations of the Commission are still under consideration by the Government.
Mr John Ede: Is the Chief Secretary aware, Sir, that the next few years of transition are vital ones to Singapore, and is it not essential that men of the highest experience be retained in the police force during this period?
Mr Goode: I have no hesitation, Sir, in giving an assurance that the Members of the Government will fully bear in mind their responsibility for the efficient administration of this territory.
