Mr Lim Cher Kheng asked the Minister for Local Government, Lands and Housing whether he is aware that the promised installation of electricity supply to Changi Village, 14th milestone, Changi Road has not yet been carried out; and what steps can be taken to solve this immediate need of the people of this area.
Inche Abdul Hamid Bin Haji Jumat: It had been expected that the City Council would be able to extend electricity supplies to 14th milestone, Changi, by November last year. I understand, however, that it has not been possible to carry out this project because of difficulties experienced in getting the site chosen for the electricity substation, which must be in the centre of the village for technical reasons. The Commissioner of Lands is giving the City Council every assistance in obtaining the required site.
