NAMES OF S.I.T. TRUSTEES AND DATES OF NOMINATION

Mr John Ede asked the Minister for Local Government, Lands and Housing to state the names of the persons nominated by him or by the Governor in Council who are now serving on the Board of Trustees of the S.I.T., and the dates of such nominations.

Inche Abdul Hamid: Mr Speaker, Sir, neither the Governor in Council nor the Minister appoints members of the Board of Trustees of the Singapore Improvement Trust, except in one case where the Governor in Council appoints the Manager. The last appointment was on the 1st of September, 1956, when Mr Fraser was appointed Chairman of the Singapore Improvement Trust.
