Mrs Seow Peck Leng asked the Prime Minister how many units of private buildings there are in (a) the City area, and (b) the rural area, the construction of which was started in 1959; how many of these were completed by the end of 1959; how many plans for private buildings in (a) the City area, and (b) the rural area had been submitted for approval in 1959, and how many of these plans were approved in that year.

Number of units of private buildings, the construction of which was started in 1959: City Council area ...1,489 Rural Board area ...1,218.

Number of units of private buildings commenced and completed in 1959: City Council area ... 118 Rural Board area ... 213.

Number of units of private buildings for which plans were submitted for approval in 1959: City Council area ...1,873 Rural Board area ...1,279.

Number of units of private buildings for which plans were approved in 1959: City Council area ... 1,536 Rural Board area ... 923.

Number of units of permanent dwelling-houses, the construction of which was started in 1959: City Council area ... 1,379 Rural Board area ... 895 Total ... 2,274.

Number of units of permanent dwelling-houses commenced and completed in 1959: City Council area ... 99 Rural Board area ... 25 Total ... 124.
