Official Report, 7 June 1963, Vol 20, Issue 5 · Open in the reader (summaries, search, filters)
Mr Teo Hock Guan asked the Prime Minister when will the application for street lamps for Koh Sek Lim Road be approved.
Mr Speaker: The Prime Minister is not here. I have information that he is indisposed.
I take it then that Standing Order No. 20 (3) will apply. The relevant part reads:
`If the Minister.be not present, he shall send copies of the answers to the Members who asked them and to the Clerk, who shall cause the answers to be circulated to Members and to be printed in the Official Report.'
I might also point out Standing Order No. 20 (2) . Perhaps the attention of hon. Members should be drawn to the proviso which reads:
`Provided that at any time before the Speaker has called upon the Member who asked the question standing in his name that Member may signify his desire to postpone the question to a later sitting or may withdraw it.'
There are three other Questions* to be answered by the Prime Minister.
- The following Question stood in the name of Mr Ong Chang Sam -
- To ask the Prime Minister when will electricity supply be made available to and street lights installed in Kranji Road, Sungei Kadut Road, Keat Hong Village, Ama Keng Village and Tiong Hoe Village.
- The following Question stood in the name of Mr Chan Sun Wing -
- To ask the Prime Minister what is the size and the locality of each of the areas occupied by the Services of the United Kingdom.
- The following Question stood in the name of Tun Lim Yew Hock -
- To ask the Prime Minister whether he will make a statement on the talks, to date, between the Federation of Malaya and the Singapore Government on the financial arrangements relating to Head 17 (Finance) of Paper Cmd, 33 of 1961.
Tun Lim Yew Hock (Cairnhill): Mr Speaker, Sir, in accordance with the proviso in Standing Order 20, I desire to postpone asking my Question standing as No. 4 on the Order Paper today to 10th June, 1963.
Mr Speaker: So be it.
Mr Ong Chang Sam (Choa Chu Kang): Question No. 2.
Mr Speaker: The Prime Minister is not here. Mr Chan Sun Wing.
Mr Chan Sun Wing (Upper Serangoon): (In Mandarin): Mr Speaker, Sir, Question No. 3. I would like to have a written reply from the Prime Minister to this Question.
Mr Speaker: That will come as a matter of course. Question No. 5. Mr Ong Chang Sam.
