Mr Ong Chang Sam asked the Deputy Prime Minister whether and when a post office will be built in Ama Keng Village.
Dr Toh Chin Chye: Ama Keng Village is served by the Ama Keng Postal Agency located at 55A Lim Chu Kang Road and a mobile post office which makes a call at the village every Monday from 12.20 p.m. to 12.50 p.m. The average postal business transacted at the Postal Agency and the mobile post office for a month is as follows:- Registered Articles 26 Sales of Stamps $ 105 Radio Licences 4
In view of the very small volume of postal business there, it is considered that the existing postal facilities are sufficient to meet the requirements of the area. It is therefore not intended to build a post office in Ama Keng Village for the time being.
