Mr Ong Chang Sam: To ask the Prime Minister when will electricity supply be made available to and street lights installed in Kranji Road, Sungei Kadut Road, Keat Hong Village, Ama Keng Village and Tiong Hoe Village.
Mr Lee Kuan Yew: During my visit to Bukit Panjang Village on 3rd March, petitions were received regarding electricity and water supplies from various areas, including those mentioned by the Member for Chua Chu Kang.
"Supplies of electricity and water to Sungei Kadut Road have been installed.
"Keat Hong Village is 2½ miles from the nearest source of supply as the military generator on the other side of the village is for various reasons not available for our use.
"Both Ama Keng Village and Thong Hoe Village are about 4 miles from the nearest source of supply.
"Costs are being worked out for the laying of these extension cables to these villages. If estimates of prospective consumer payments over a period of 7 years justify the costs, extension cables will be laid and electricity supplied to these three villages."
