The Chief Minister: Mr Speaker, Sir, I rise to move,
That this Assembly resolves-
that the Report of the Standing Orders Committee, as contained in Sessional Paper No. L.A. 13 of 1957, be adopted; and
that, pursuant to section 54 of the Singapore Colony Orders in Council, 1955 and 1956, the amendments to the Standing Orders as contained in Sessional Paper No. L.A. 13 of 1957 be made to the Standing Orders of this Assembly with effect from 1st November,1957.
I should like, Sir, at this stage, to thank you for your valuable assistance in the deliberations of the Standing Orders Committee as a result of which the Committee has recommended that certain amendments should be made to our present Standing Orders. The amendments proposed are set out in detail in the Report contained in Sessional Paper No. L.A. 13 of 1957 and I do not propose to go through them one by one. The Report has been in the hands of hon. Members for some time and I have no doubt that they have already studied its recommendations thoroughly.
Sir, I beg to move.
Mr Braga: I second the motion.
Question put, and agreed to.
