Inche Ahmad Jabri Bin Mohammad Akib asked the Minister for Labour and Law why the Pulau Brani Community Centre has not yet been opened, and when will it be opened.

Mr K. M. Byrne: Mr Speaker, Sir, the Pulau Brani Community Centre was built by the former Rural Board and was completed some time in May 1959, just before the general elections. This community centre has been taken over by the People's Association, and a team from that Association is now investigating the activities of all the community centres situated in the island with a view to organising more worthwhile activities there.

Inche Ahmad Jabri: (In Malay): Mr Speaker, could the Minister say why for over two years the Pulau Brani Community Centre has been neglected?

Mr Byrne: Mr Speaker, Sir, the community centre has been functioning all this while. There is no reason why it ought to have been opened by this Government since it was completed by the previous Government.

Inche Ahmad Jabri: (In Malay): Mr Speaker, I am not satisfied with the explanation given by the Minister. What I know is that only the building stands there. There is no committee or body to organise-

Mr Speaker: Order. The hon. Member is entering into a debate. If he wishes to proceed with this topic by way of debate, he has to file notice of a motion, or crave leave to speak on the topic on the Adjournment. But if he has a supplementary question, he can ask it.

Inche Ahmad Jabri: (In Malay): I wish to say that I am not satisfied with the answer given by the Minister.
