STATEMENT OF EXCESS Second Report of the Public Accounts Committee (Paper L.A. 9 of 1961) and the Statement of Excess of Expenditure for 1959 (Paper Cmd. 10 OF 1961)

The Chairman: Will the Minister signify the recommendation of the Yang di-Pertuan Negara before the Committee proceeds with the consideration of the Statement of Excess?

The Minister for Finance (Dr Goh Keng Swee): I so signify.

The Chairman: The Statement of Excess is contained in Paper Cmd. 10 of 1961. There is one item and it appears in page 1. The Report of the Public Accounts Committee on the Statement of Excess is contained in Paper L.A. 9 of 1961. No notice of amendment has been received and there is only one head - Head 44 District Councils.

Question, "That the sum of $1,687,725 for Head 44 stated in the summary of total contained in Paper Cmd. 10 of 1961 stand part of the Statement of Excess contained therein", put, and agreed to.

Question, "That the sum of $1,687,725 shall be supplied to the Government under the head of expenditure for the public services shown in the Statement of Excess contained in Paper Cmd. 10 of 1961", put, and agreed to.

Thereupon Mr Speaker left the Chair of the Committee and took the Chair of the Assembly.

Dr Goh Keng Swee: Mr Speaker, Sir, I beg to report that the Committee of Supply have come to a certain resolution.

Dr Goh Keng Swee: Mr Speaker, Sir, I beg to move that the Assembly doth agree with the Committee on the said resolution.
