Mr Seah Peng Chuan asked the Chief Minister the reasons for his proposal that the Governor-General for Singapore may be appointed from the Federation of Malaya.
The Chief Minister (Mr Lim Yew Hock): The policy of the Labour Front Coalition is to work towards a united Malaya and the proposal for a Malayan Governor-General is in keeping with that policy.
Mr R. Jumabhoy: Would it not be wise, Sir, to have one Governor-General for both the territories?
