The Financial Secretary (Mr T. M. Hart): Sir, I have His Excellency the Governor's authority to move,
That this Assembly resolves that the sum of $540,291 shall be supplied to the Government under the heads of expenditure and for the services specified in the Schedule contained in Sessional Paper No. Cmd. 2 of 1957.
Sir, this is a short list of applications for supplementary votes. It consists of items which either could not have been foreseen at the time when the annual Estimates were prepared or had not, at that time, reached the stage of finality which would have permitted their inclusion in the annual Estimates.
The reasons necessitating the applications are given fully in the Cmd. Paper and my colleagues and I shall be happy to answer any question which hon. Members may wish to raise. Sir, I beg to move.
Mr Chew Swee Kee: I second the motion.
