Haji Sha'ari bin Tadin asked the Minister for National Development and Communications if he will request the Singapore Bus Service (1978) Limited to re-site the bus depot at Bedok South Road at some other place because of the nuisance caused to residents of Neighbourhood 11 by noise from the present depot, especially in the early hours of the morning.
Mr Ong Teng Cheong (for the Minister for National Development and Communications): Sir, the present bus depot at Bedok South Road is only for temporary use. It will be shifted to Somapah Road in a few years' time.
Meanwhile, steps are being taken by SBS to minimise the nuisance caused to residents of Neighbourhood 11. In particular, bus drivers have been told not to rev the bus engines unnecessarily.
