ANSAR MOSQUE (Completion date)

Haji Sha'ari bin Tadin asked the Minister for Social Affairs when work will commence on the construction of the proposed Ansar Mosque and when it will be completed.

Dr Ahmad Mattar: The Ansar Mosque, the fifth to be built under the Mosque Building Fund Scheme, is scheduled for completion in February 1980. Construction tenders will be called in July 1978 and construction work will start in October 1978.

This mosque was originally scheduled for completion in mid 1979. However, owing to protracted discussions and deliberations on the design of the mosque and the delay by the Mosque Building Committee in approving the mosque design, the work schedule for this mosque has been delayed.
