Mr Lee Choon Eng asked the Minister for Labour and Welfare what action the Government has taken or intends to take in regard to the statement reported to have been made by. Mrs Shirin Fozdar at the Afro-Asian Conference of women social workers in Colombo alleging that prostitutes from China have dumped themselves in Singapore and that the Colony is now one big brothel.

Dr Lim Yew Hock: Mr Speaker, Sir, a prompt denial to Mrs Shirin Fozdar's statement was made by my Ministry on 22nd February, 1958. I have since interviewed Mrs Fozdar and am satisfied that she had not intended that her statement should be given such a sensational twist.
