PRESERVATION OF PUBLIC SECURITY ORDINANCE (Re-enactment after expiry)

Mr Seah Peng Chuan asked the Chief Secretary whether Government proposes to introduce legislation for the re-enactment of the Preservation of Public Security Ordinance (No. 25 of 1955), which expires on 20th October, 1958.

Mr E. B. David: Sir, unless there is any material lessening of the threat to public security between now and October, of which the Government at present sees no sign, the Government expects that the public interest will require the enactment of further legislation on the lines of the present Ordinance.
