Mr Soh Ghee Soon asked the Chief Secretary whether the Government now intends to re-establish the Singapore Sports Stadium Board; whether the Government will take steps or direct that steps be taken by the Board or any other body or persons to estimate the public response to the building of a Singapore Sports Stadium, and whether the Government will consider building a Singapore Sports Stadium.
Mr E. B. David: The answer is no, Sir, to all three parts of the question. If there were at any time an indication that substantial support, financial and otherwise, would be forthcoming from the public, the Government would be prepared to reconsider the matter.
Mr Lee Choon Eng: Can the Chief Secretary tell us what kind of financial support from the public that he expects, unless the Government initiates the move?
Mr E. B. David: I am very ready, Sir, to receive representations from any of the bodies concerned. I have not so far received any.
