Mr Lim Cher Kheng asked the Minister for Local Government, Lands and Housing whether he will consider making Crown Land suitable for farming available to professional farmers who have been evicted by private landowners.

Inche Abdul Hamid: Crown lands suitable for farming are already occupied by long-settled farmers on Temporary Occupation Licence or will be converted into resettlement areas for the purpose of resettling farmers evicted from lands required for public purposes. Hon. Members are probably aware that there is a great shortage of Crown lands for Government's own resettlement needs, which must have first priority over the resettlement of farmers evicted by private land-owners.
